Project AWAYSIS is underway! Construction has started and the excitement is building. Project AWAYSIS is a community and economic development project that will create cultural, recreational, economic and educational opportunities for all to enjoy. The Project will create a new public beach, a lighthouse with a handicapped accessible observation deck, a Great Lawn, a family playground, a redesigned municipal golf course, an expanded and modernized campground, family cabins, a 100 room lodge, an indoor/outdoor water park and a County-wide drive trail. Related improvements include County-wide bike trails, a state-of-the-art Interpretive Center, a skate park and a remodeled marina. This project, when complete, will enhance and diversify the economic base of the community, enhance the already terrific quality of life of the region and create new and unique cultural and educational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
